Claude de Ribeaupierre, Derib, was born on 8 August 1944 in Switzerland.
He is a comics author with over 50 years of experience. Internationally known for his work, he dedicated most of it to Amerindians through the stories of Yakari, Buddy Longway and Red Road. In his album Tu seras reine, he told the story of the famous Hérens cows. More recently, the Franches-Montagnes horses were the topic of the album Le Galop du Silence.
Very concerned by the societal problems, Derib addressed those affecting the youth through Jo, No Limits and Pour toi Sandra, which were distributed and used in schools.
“How is it possible in 2016 that anti-personnel landmines continue to be used? Isn't it high time that people woke up to the disastrous consequences of using these mines? The Digger Foundation and its team of volunteers are, unfortunately, still very much a necessity.
Let's hope that one day this will cease to be the case...”
